Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA), the largest lawyers’ group in Punjab has setup a legal aid committee handlding problems related to overseas Pakistanis. Mohammad Azmat Farooq Advocate who advisor of Pakistan Union Norway (PUN), has been nominated as chairman of the committee. Kashif Farooq Advocate and Zeeshan Akhtar Advocate will assist him respectively as co-chairman and member of the bar’s committee.
Chairman Pakistan Union Norway (PUN), Chaudhary Qamar Iqbal had appointed Azmat Farooq Advocate as union legal advisor last month in order to provide legal assistance to the overseas Pakistanis in Pakistan.
According to a letter issued by secretary of Lahore High Court Bar Association, Mr Hassan Iqbal Warraich, the President of the Association Mr Anwarul Haque Panun nominated Azmat Farooq as Chairman of the committee which will look after all the legal matters related to the Overseas Pakistanis in Punjab. Azmat Farooq is an expert and a researcher in Civil, Revenue and Muslim personal laws having deep understanding of the legitimate concerns of overseas Pakistanis.
Azamat Farooq said, it is initially an effort of Pakistan Union Norway which motivated the Punjab largest lawyer group to initiate this important action. He said, he will move a step forward in solving and raising the collective and individual issues of Overseas Pakistanis at the appropriate forums in Pakistan.
Chairman Pakistan Union Norway Qamar Iqbal hailed the initiative of Lahore High Court Bar Association for setting up committee under chair of Azmat Farooq Advocate for looking after the legal issues of Overseas Pakistanis in Pakistan.
Pakistanis based in different foreign countries face a huge problems related to their properties, huge fees of Nadra’s cards, even fee on cancellation of old Pakistani id card, deprivation of vote and participation in elections, delay in issuance of NOC in case renunciation of Pakistani nationalities and negative behavior of office bearers of different governmental departments in Pakistan and missions in abroad.
